Where Newark Comes Alive Through Live Performance

Award-winning concerts, theater, and arts education at New Jersey's premier cultural destination on Center Street.

About Us

At 1 Center Street in downtown Newark, NJPAC has been transforming how New Jersey experiences the performing arts since it opened in 1997. The building itself is part of the performance: soaring architecture that doesn't just frame a stage but shapes the sound, the mood, and the memory of every show. Reviewers consistently call out the acoustics and the sight lines, and those aren't accidents. Every seat in the house was designed to pull you closer to the moment happening on stage.

The venue draws world-class talent across jazz, classical, Broadway, comedy, hip-hop, and global music, making it one of the most eclectic booking calendars on the East Coast. The HASC Concert, gospel nights, visiting orchestras, and emerging local artists all share the same spotlight here. That range is a deliberate choice: NJPAC was built to serve all of New Jersey, not just one audience.

Beyond the main stage, NJPAC runs deep arts education programs that reach tens of thousands of students across the region each year. The organization is a nonprofit rooted in the belief that access to great art changes lives. With a 4.7-star rating across more than 7,400 reviews, the proof is in the audience.

What We Offer

NJPAC presents a year-round calendar that covers virtually every corner of the performing arts. The Prudential Hall main stage hosts full-scale orchestral performances, Broadway touring productions, and headline concerts. The Victoria Theater offers a more intimate setting for chamber music, spoken word, and experimental work. Between the two venues, there are hundreds of ticketed events annually.

Arts education is woven into everything NJPAC does. School programs bring students into the building for curriculum-connected performances, while in-school residencies send teaching artists directly into classrooms across New Jersey. Summer camps, master classes, and community workshops extend that reach even further.

For private and corporate events, the facility offers flexible event spaces with professional production support, catering coordination, and a location that's easy to reach by NJ Transit, PATH, or car, with multiple parking garages within a short walk of the front entrance.

Why Choose Us

"If one enjoys creativity, storytelling, and problem-solving, then performing arts encompass all types of art that are performed and presented to an audience. Located just west of the Passaic River waterfront in Newark, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is one of the largest performing arts centers in the US and home to the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, bringing world-class entertainment. My partner, our friends, and I managed to obtain four tickets as well as parking via Ticketmaster in the orchestra row for this Saturday event called “Hollywood in New Jersey,” featuring some of the most iconic film music of all time performed by the New Jersey Symphony with guest conductor David Newman and an award-winning German pianist, Sebastian Knauer. Upon arrival as first-timers at the Prudential Hall, we were greeted by the staff. The interior architecture was breathtaking and felt like stepping back in time to the golden age of theater. There were three levels that can be accessed by stairs or an elevator and seat approximately 3,000 spectators. The event kicked off with a special introductory from NJ Governor Phil, and his wife, Tammy, spoke about the Garden State being the new Hollywood of the East and recounted the experience with the German pianist while they were ambassadors in Germany. The venue offered a clear stage view, great acoustics, and comfortable seating. We were very surprised with how clean and polished everything looked. A gigantic ball-shaped chandelier caught our eyes. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Parking in Military Parking Garage was a breeze, with plenty of options nearby. Just keep in mind that exiting the local garages after a show could take a little time, as many patrons were leaving at once. The staff did a great job directing traffic out of the garage. An excellent evening all the way around. We're definitely looking forward to visiting again."

"Clean and gorgeous facility and relatively simple to get to with multiple parking garages a short walk away. Although I'm an hour away, I'll definitely be coming back for more shows! The attached restaurant and bar looked swanky, can't wait to try it out!"

"My wife and i went here for the HASC concert. It was magical. The seats are so comfortable, the architecture truly enhances the experience and the acoustics are amazing. I love how the seats are all raised so the people in front of you don't obstruct your view of the stage. Security was tight and in not complaining, it was a little slow getting in, but that's to be expected with large crowds all arriving at the same time, and they did a marvelous job."

"I went for a concert with my mom. Her first concert since 1980. 😍 The service was great they supported us with a wheelchair and the seats in the box were fabulous. If you are going with someone ADA just arrive early. They like to escorts you personally and that takes some time. I look forward to seeing another show in the future."

"Beautiful performance center with a lot of small rooms for local community events, too - though the costs for running events can be high due to the union labor associated with security, cleanup, etc. Parking right across the street from the facility in Military Park garage underground."
